Dr. Simona Rikh

Owner/Veterinarian

I grew up in Cincinnati and came to Columbus to attend The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine, and earned my doctorate in 2008. My love for my older patients stems from my beloved dog Kona. She became what I call “old” at a young age when a herniated disc left her debilitated and with a variety of special needs. We had an incredible bond and I loved taking care of my old lady and ensuring that she had the best quality of life she could. When it was time to say goodbye to her, I was able to do so in the comfort of our home. It was one of the hardest days of my life but also the best way I could have said goodbye to my special girl. I am forever thankful to a close friend who is also a veterinarian that was able to provide this final gift to us. My goal is to be your partner and guide during your beloved pets end of life journey.

Dr. Rikh has received additional training and certification through the Companion Animal Euthanasia Training Academy (C.A.E.T.A.) in order to be able to best serve you and your beloved furry family member.

When I am not working, I can be found spending time with my family and friends, playing tennis, cooking, crafting, or enjoying the outdoors.

I look forward to serving you and your beloved furry family member.

“Kona's loving paws provides such a wonderful service to pet owners who want a peaceful living process. When it was time for our other pets to go, our vet was very kind and loving but our little Yorkie hated car rides and going to the vet. We were able to have him comfortable at home in his favor spot. She loving took a paw print and a nose print from Jake and she lit a candle. I would highly recommend her."

"During this very difficult time, Kona's Loving Paws staff were compassionate and caring. Dr. Bowers helped our beautiful boy pass over the Rainbow Bridge with his brother and his human family by his side. Thank you for being there for us and Kylo."

Kimberly

"We are so thankful to Kona's Loving Paws and Dr. Simona Rikh for helping us say goodbye to our sweet Marley. Dr. Rikh came to our home and treated Marley with such compassion, kindness, and dignity. The process was peaceful and gentle, which gave us the comfort we needed in such an impossible moment. While our hearts are broken and we will miss Marley every single day, we are grateful that his final moments were spent at home with his mommies surrounded by love. We will forever appreciate the care and support Dr. Rikh provided to our family."

"Unfortunately, we needed someone when we were not planned to say goodbye to our dog, Calli. When we reached our to Kona's Paws they responded Quickly and listened to what we had going on. Dr. Rathjens came that day and I cant say enough good things about her and the company. She was very personal and explained the entire process to us. She took the time to get to know who Calli was and how much she meant our family. Thank you for allowing us to do this in our home and make our dog comfortable throughout the process."
